Music Ministry

Music is a wonderful tool that can be used to praise, honor, and reflect on God and is an essential element of worship.  Here at Lillington Baptist there are many opportunities to be a part of making music to the Lord, and all are welcome!

Bill and Kathy Sutter are our Ministers of Music. They have served Lillington Baptist for twenty-five years and would love to help you "find your niche" in ministering through music here at LBC.  We have two wonderful and dedicated keyboard players.  Shirley Shelburne has served LBC as the pianist for thirteen years and Tracy Latta has been our organist since January of 2011.

Chancel Choir

Singing in the Chancel Choir is a wonderful opportunity to worship while helping lead others in worship. We sing a variety of two and four part choral music.  We work hard but we also have a lot of fun.  You don't have to be a "music reader" to sing with us - we'll help you!  Choir rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 – 8:30.  The Chancel Choir sings weekly during the Sunday morning worship service.  It is open to Sr. High youth and adults.  Hope to hear you at choir practice!

The Chancel Choir recorded a CD September of 2007 including some of our favorite anthems.  It is called "Sing for Joy" and you can get one from the church office.

 Praise Ringers

We are currently seeking folks who are willing and eager to make a joyful noise through ringing bells!  At this time we do not have enough people to staff all the bell positions, so we need you!  Please prayerfully consider joining this wonderful ensemble.  Experience is not required.  We will help you get acquainted with "your" bells and how you fit in with the group.  Please contact Bill so we can get our bells ringing again!

 Children’s Music

The Little Lites is our preschool choir for 4 and 5 year old children.  They meet on Wednesday nights from 6:15 to 6:45.

The Kids of the Kingdom choir welcomes first through fifth grade children and meets upstairs in the children's Sunday School hall on Wednesday evenings from 6:15 to 6:45.  Both choirs explore singing, movement, and use of instruments (unpitched and Orff) to praise and worship the Lord.

These choirs perform periodically through the school year.  Please contact Kathy if you would be interested in leading or helping with one of these groups.  We follow the school calendar and do not meet during the summer months (June - August).

  Christmas Choir

This group is open to all (Senior High youth and adults) who are interested in being a part of leading in this special musical worship opportunity.  Thanks to all who participated in this year's musical, "Lead Me Back to Bethlehem."  It was a blessing and touched many hearts.

Other opportunities...

If you have a musical skill and are not quite sure where it might be used, please let us know!  There are many ways you can use your gifts and talents, so please don't be shy - let Bill or Kathy know of your interests and abilities.  There is also a place to be a part through technology and sound - let Bill or Matthew know if you are interested in this area which is integral to our worship through music.
